Traditional Lime Plastering and Render

Lime render - Stroud, Stonehouse and the Gloucestershire Area

Lime plastering is a tradition that has lasted hundreds of years.

It is used mostly in old buildings that have no damp course or cavitys.

It is a material that allows the passage of water through it - it then sheds this water allowing the structure to breath.

Modern materials hold in the water causing damp problems whereas lime plastering, used in conjunction with lime based paints, allows the water to evaporate.

Externally, lime render does the same in letting the building breathe.

There are a vaiety of different finishes you can achive (even making up your own). The lime render can either be coloured or painted with a limewash to give it a protective coating.
